Phorusrhacos.jpg

Phorusrhacos is an extinct predatory bird, unable to fly and living in Miocene Patagonia. The closest living relatives are the much smaller ones. He lived in woodlands and grasslands. They had huge skulls armed with powerful hooks. The structure of the beak and the large claws on the fingers show that they were carnivorous. They feed on large lizards and small mammals of the time.
