Diplocaulus3

Diplocaulus is an easily distinguishable amphibian with a Boomerang-shaped head. Better adapted to aquatic life, it sometimes happens that the diplocaulus comes out of the water to breathe or leaves its element to hunt at the edge of the water. Its large boomerang-shaped head is a mystery: it could be used as a hydrofoil, helping the animal to slide on the water; it could also protect it from predators unable to swallow an animal whose head was so wide. Diplocaulus is carnivorous, eats fish, small crustaceans, and occasionally tadpoles of other amphibians that it catches by surprise (in the same way as the giant salamanders of today).
